The 2025 Guilin Marathon commenced on Nov 16 at Central Square in Guilin, drawing 23,000 runners from around the world who were eager to experience the unique charm of this world-class tourist city.
This year's event featured 11,000 participants in the full marathon (42.195 kilometers) and 12,000 in the half marathon (21.0975 km). Starting from Central Square and finishing at Guilin Sports Center, the course passed iconic landmarks like Elephant Trunk Hill and the Lijiang River, allowing runners to appreciate Guilin's natural beauty and cultural heritage during the race. Since its inception in 2016, the event has attracted 157,000 participants worldwide.
In the highly competitive races, Chen Huawei from Guangdong claimed the men's marathon title with a time of 2:17:53, while Zhong Jiameng from Jiangxi won the women's division in 2:44:24. The half marathon champions were Wang Peilin (1:06:49) from Shandong in the men's category and Zhang Zhixuan (1:20:44) from Taiwan, China, in the women's category.
The event introduced an innovative "sports, tourism, consumption" model, featuring activities including Guilin folk song performances, special concerts, local artisan markets, and the 8th Guilin Food Festival. Special discounts for participants and their companions covering attractions, dining, and accommodation helped extend the event's industrial chain through diverse consumption scenarios.
