The pop-up shan'ge activity, referring to mountain song, a folk song genre, took place at popular attractions in Guilin, Guangxi, including East West Street, Xiaoyao Tower, Xiaoyao Building, and the Two Rivers and Four Lakes on March 9. The event features traditional Guangxi mountain songs, a lively prelude to the upcoming Guangxi Sanyuesan Festival.
Participants donned traditional attire from the Zhuang, Miao, and Yao ethnic groups. They performed classic Guangxi mountain songs, engaging tourists who eagerly joined in the festivities since the activity unfolded. The performers also board the pleasure boat to interact with visitors, igniting excitement for the Sanyuesan Festival celebrations.
Guilin plans to host the music festival this year during the Sanyuesan Festival period, offering an immersive cultural experience. Major scenic spots in Guilin will transform into a lively stage for music.
Visitors can enjoy performances by professional singers and participate in mountain song duets, learning from local legends like Liu Sanjie. Traditional activities such as embroidered ball tossing, bamboo pole dancing and Guilin's special cuisine offer a comprehensive glimpse into Guangxi's rich ethnic culture.
