Guilin's scenery popular in renowned movie production

Guilin's unique karst landscapes have long inspired filmmakers, providing a picturesque backdrop for various genres.

The recent Chinese animated movie Ne Zha 2 Mo Tong Nao Hai, commonly referred to as Ne Zha 2, has achieved a historic breakthrough in global box office sales, reaching 80.85 billion yuan ($11.06 billion). The scenery of Chengtangguan Pass, featured in the movies Ne Zha and Ne Zha 2, showcases the unique landscapes of Guilin.

In the movie Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, the planet Kashyyyk was filmed using Guilin's karst landscapes, marking the first time these unique formations appeared in a Western movie.

The movie The Painted Veil based on William Somerset Maugham's novel was shot in Yangshuo and along the Lijiang River. The movie tells the living experience of a British couple in the Chinese countryside, with the story featuring both romance and mystery.

The action-comedy movie Skiptrace, starring Jackie Chan, was filmed in the Lijiang River scenic area and Longsheng Rice Terraces, combining thrilling escapades with Guilin's stunning scenery.
