A celebration event welcoming the Spring Festival was held in Qixing district, Guilin, on Jan 22, gathering over 200 Chinese and overseas students, parents, and teachers from countries such as Nigeria, Myanmar, Uzbekistan, and Botswana.

This year marks the first Spring Festival since the tradition was recognized as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage item.

Overseas students from Guilin University of Electronic Technology and Guilin University of Technology engaged in a diverse and rich array of activities such as purchasing Spring Festival goods, eating delicious food, and experiencing intangible cultural heritage items such as the technique of making Gongcheng oil tea. Many parents also tried out writing the Chinese character Fu with their children.

A local resident surnamed Jiang noted that these activities not only enhance children's financial literacy but also broaden their horizons, allowing them to experience the internationalization of Guilin.
