The red radishes from Yantang village, Guanyang county in Guilin, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, have recently become popular through online selling channels.

Situated at a high altitude with significant temperature variations between day and night, Yantang village provides an extended vegetable growth period, facilitating nutrient accumulation.

The high altitude prevents many pests from surviving, requiring minimal pesticide use during cultivation. Compared to ordinary radishes on the market, red radishes here are crisp and sweet when eaten raw, boasting superior quality and taste.

In the past, these red radishes, despite their outstanding quality, were limited to traditional sales channels, only making a small impact locally and in surrounding areas. However, the flourishing development of the internet, leveraging the continuous efforts of short video promotion, high-quality cultivation, and livestream e-commerce, has helped farmers directly endorse and promote their products.

"I planted 30 mu (2 hectares) of red radishes, totaling 90,000 kilograms of output in 2024. I sold 30,000 kg of them online, with some orders reaching Northeast China. I feel so glad that people in Northeast China can enjoy the red radishes I planted." said Yuan Jijun, a local radish grower.

The online sales have acted as an invisible bridge, opening up a broad avenue for the red radishes from Guanyang to reach a wider audience.
