The administration office of China (Guangxi) Pilot Free Trade Zone is set up in the Department of Commerce in the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region. Its main responsibilities include: implementing national guidelines, policies, laws and regulations concerning the construction of pilot free trade zones, and drawing up local regulations and draft government regulations; studying and formulating development plans, policies and measures for the China (Guangxi) Pilot Free Trade Zone (hereinafter referred to as the Pilot Free Trade Zone) and promoting its implementation; conducting research on major issues related to the development of the Pilot Free Trade Zone, and putting forward policy recommendations promoting reform and innovation; implementing reform and innovative systems, and coordinating investment, trade, financial services, planning, and statistical work; releasing public information, evaluating operation results, and carrying out publicity and exchanges activities; helping the zone formulate and implement its management system; coordinating the finance, customs, maritime affairs, as well as border inspection; cooperating with other departments to implement national security reviews and anti-monopoly reviews; liaising with the management agencies of different functional areas of the Pilot Free Trade Zone, and promoting the establishment of a sound in-process and after-event supervision system within each area.

The administration office of the Pilot Free Trade Zone consists of the comprehensive information section, the system innovation section, and the coordination and guidance section.

The comprehensive information section of the administration office of the Pilot Free Trade Zone conducts research on major issues of the construction of the zone; studies and formulates development plans and work plans; carries out evaluation and statistics work, releases public information, comprehensively evaluates the operation results, and works on the publicity and external exchanges of the Pilot Free Trade Zone.

The system innovation section of the administration office of the Pilot Free Trade Zone drafts local and government regulations, as well as improves rules and regulations of the Pilot Free Trade Zone in accordance with the national regulations and rules on the management of free trade zones in China; draws up and implements policies for comprehensive reform, investment, trade, finance, and talents in the Pilot Free Trade Zone; carries out research projects; follows up and evaluates the implementation of laws, regulations and policies, and helps different areas of the zone establish and improve supporting systems.

The coordination and guidance section of the administration office of the Pilot Free Trade Zone coordinates with the relevant departments of the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, cooperating with them on the implementation of national security and anti-monopoly reviews of the Pilot Free Trade Zone; conducts liaison with the management agencies of different areas of the zone, supervising and inspecting their implementation of pilot tasks, development plans and work plans; promotes different areas of the zone to establish and improve a sound supervision system during and after an event.
