'China-Malaysia Twin Parks' creates new modes of cooperation

The China-Malaysia "Two Countries, Twin Parks", China and Malaysia's construction of the China-Malaysia Qinzhou Industrial Park (CMQIP) and the Malaysia-China Kuantan Industrial Park (MCKIP) has created new modes of international cooperation.

In recent years, the two parks have been developed into a flagship project of investment cooperation between China and Malaysia and a demonstration zone of China-ASEAN cooperation, and are developing rapidly under the framework of the Belt and Road.

In 2012, the CMQIP opened, and in the past 10 years has signed more than 200 projects, registered more than 25,700 enterprises, with a total agreed investment of more than 190 billion yuan ($27 billion), and driven employment of more than 30,000 people. In the first 10 months of this year, the total amount of goods imported and exported to Malaysia through Qinzhou Port reached 3.1 billion yuan.

Opened in 2013, the 12 square kilometers of land in the MCKIP has been developed to about nine sq k, focusing on the development of steel and non-ferrous metals, machinery and equipment manufacturing, light industry and building materials, port processing and modern logistics. According to statistics, the park has signed 12 projects with an agreed investment of over 40 billion yuan and a total industrial output value of over 35 billion yuan, and created about 20,000 jobs for the local community.
