On July 31, a ship berthed at the No 6 berth in Beibu Gulf Port, marking the opening of the direct container shipping route from Beibu Gulf Port to Nanjing Port.

The route is operated by Jiangsu Ocean Tonghai Shipping, a Jiangsu province port group, with the shipping route going from Qinzhou to Nanjing to Huangpu and then back to Qinzhou.

Before the opening of the direct shipping route, goods previously arriving in the middle section of the Yangtze River had to go through two or three transits at Shanghai Port or Taicang Port.

Since the opening of the direct shipping route, it only takes about seven days to transport goods from Qinzhou Port to Nanjing Port, which greatly improves the timeliness and service quality of the route, promoting the economic development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the Beibu Gulf.
