Guangxi FTZ expands cross-border logistics

Relying on the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, the Qinzhou Port Area of the Guangxi FTZ promotes multi-regional cooperation and makes every effort to speed up the construction of the Beibu Gulf International Gateway Port. In the first quarter of the year, 1,736 rail-sea intermodal trains were operated, a year-on-year increase of 31 percent.

There were 682 cross-border trains between China and Vietnam, a year-on-year increase of 74.87 percent, with the scale of cross-border logistics in the new western land-sea corridor continuing to expand.

At Pingxiang Railway Port, the volume of fruit imported to ASEAN countries exceeded the 10,000-metric-ton mark. Since March, the average daily number of cross-border freight trains at Pingxiang Port has doubled compared to the same period last year.

As of the first quarter, the 120 reform pilot tasks assigned by the State to the Guangxi Pilot Free Trade Zone have been implemented, while two batches of 84 autonomous region-level institutional innovations have been formed and replicated throughout the region.

In the first quarter, 7,294 enterprises were newly established in the Guangxi Pilot Free Trade Zone, a year-on-year increase of 15 percent. A total of 51 foreign-funded enterprises were newly established, while the actual use of foreign capital was $69.29 million.

The Friendship Pass Port had 38,900 inbound and outbound trucks in that period, with an import and export freight volume of 447,500 tons, as well as an import and export value of 27.92 billion yuan ($4.18 billion).
