The tax bureau of the Qinzhou Port area of the China (Guangxi) Pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ) recently launched its cross-border RMB electronic tax payment service.

Cross-border RMB electronic tax payments involve non-resident taxpayers who have a tax obligation in China. Through this service, they are now able to complete online tax declaration and payment abroad. Previously, non-resident taxpayers had to entrust an intermediary to pay taxes while abroad or had to open bank accounts in China or had to make cross-border remittances in China.

On April 25, a Hong Kong resident surnamed Pan applied for a stamp duty online through the Guangxi Electronic Taxation Bureau and used the China Unionpay Quick Pass to make the full cross-border RMB electronic tax payment.

The taxation bureau of the Qinzhou Port area of the Guangxi FTZ will continue to be oriented by the needs of taxpayers, focus on the implementation of the RCEP, and serve the new needs of the construction of the new land-sea passage in the west. It will also use modern information technologies, such as big data, artificial intelligence, and mobile internet, to continue to make innovations to facilitate taxation services that are convenient for people.
