On March 22, 631 vehicles were loaded on the Beibu Gulf Port sea-rail intermodal train, breaking last year's record of 603 vehicles loaded in a single day and setting a single-day loading record for the Beibu Gulf port sea-rail intermodal train since it was launched in the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor.

Affected by factors like the COVID-19 pandemic, the Spring Festival off-season, and the lack of railway transportation capacity, the increase in freight volume was not obvious. As a result, Beibu Gulf Intermodal Transport and the management committee of the Qinzhou Port area of the China (Guangxi) Pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ) focused on the goal of running more than 1,600 sea-rail intermodal trains in the first quarter of the year, expanding the market, ensuring transportation capacity, and improving efficiency. From March 1 to 22, 462 sea-rail combined transport trains ran in the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, a month-on-month increase of 71 percent, and a total of 1,453 trains have run in 2022, a year-on-year increase of 27 percent.

Since the beginning of this year, Beibu Gulf Intermodal Transport and the management committee of the Qinzhou Port area of the Guangxi FTZ have increased market development efforts, strengthened the organization and delivery of edible oil in the southwest, as well as promoted the freight train business of gravel and cement clinkers in the Guangxi Free Trade Zone, attracting more sources of goods to gather in the Beibu Gulf Port. The number of service stations in the new western land-sea channel has increased to 97, an increase of five arrival stations compared with 2021.
