Youyiguan Port in Pingxiang is providing GPS wristbands for truck drivers as part of its COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control measures. The port is the first border port in China to utilize GPS wristbands for truck drivers as part of their epidemic prevention and control efforts.

"Our truck drivers always enter the freight yard in Vietnam, which has epidemic risks. In order to do a good job in our port epidemic prevention and control work, we must now wear GPS wristbands before going to work every day and strictly abide by the epidemic prevention measures," said Huang Riyi, a truck driver at Youyiguan Port.

There are 491 truck drivers in Pingxiang, including 352 truck drivers for Youyiguan Port and 139 truck drivers for Puzhai Port, all of whom live in three hotels at Youyiguan Port.

Ma Dewen, deputy director of the work service center in Pingxiang Port, said that due to limited manpower, it was impossible to fully grasp where the truck drivers traveled after they left for work.

To address the high mobility of truck drivers, Pingxiang innovated and improved its technical defense measures by launching the GPS wristbands initiative. The wristbands have location query, trajectory query, and electronic fence cross-border alarm functions, which makes up for the shortcomings of the previous manual management of truck drivers.
