Dalian Cosco Khi Ship Engineering (DACKS) completed construction of the ship BBG Kuantan last month and delivered it to BG Shipping, the shipping unit of Guangxi Beibu Gulf International Port Group. It will be the first new ship that BG Shipping will operate in 2022.

The BBG Kuantan is a Panamax ship, with a total length of 228.9 meters, a width of 32.24 meters, a depth of 20.2 meters, a draft of 14.50 meters, and a deadweight tonnage of 81,989 metric tons. All aspects of its performance have met industry-leading levels.

Its safety levels meet the Harmonized Common Structural Rules (HCSR) and its environmental protection characteristics meet the requirements of Phase 2 of the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI).

The ship is suitable for transporting grain, coal, and bauxite. It is equipped with energy-saving propulsion devices, such as a fuel-saving electronically controlled diesel main engine and propellers with high propulsion efficiency, which are more environmentally friendly.

After it received the BBG Kuantan, the number of cargo ships operated by BG Shipping had reached 26, including 17 Panamax ships, which are currently the main ships it operates.

The smooth handover of the ship marks the further deepening of the bareboat leasing cooperation project between BG Shipping and Shanghai Pudong Development Bank Financial Leasing.
