Since the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) took effect in January, Pingxiang Port has served 274 inbound and outbound freight trains, carrying 431,000 metric tons of exported goods and 130,000 tons of imported goods.

The RCEP has helped simplify various procedures, which has reduced transportation time and costs, thus improving enterprises' competitiveness.

"After the RCEP came into effect, the number of types of goods transported through Pingxiang Port has increased by nearly 20 compared to last year, including dried fruit, clothing, tea, and shoes. The number of trains running every day has increased from three pairs of trains to five pairs," said Shi Haifu, head of the logistics center in Pingxiang Port.

Mo Zhijun, head of a Chinese herbal medicine trading company in Guangxi, said that the company imported and exported 500 tons of Chinese herbal medicines in January, a year-on-year increase of 150 percent. After the RCEP came into effect, the company's import and export demand increased. Since their goods were transported by rail, the customs clearance time was cut by two-thirds, which not only reduced transportation costs, but also increased economic benefits for the company.

The Guangxi Railway Department has also communicated with Vietnam and Pingxiang Customs to plan the number of daily cross-border trains in advance, as well as to optimize services to improve transportation efficiency.
