In 2021, cross-border e-commerce in Guangxi maintained strong growth. The import and export volume of cross-border e-commerce in Nanning was 7.77 billion yuan ($1.23 billion), a 2.6-fold year-on-year increase, while the cross-border e-commerce import and export volume in Chongzuo was 2.38 billion yuan, a 10-fold year-on-year increase.

In 2021, Nanning completed more than 100 million cross-border e-commerce transactions. Its cross-border e-commerce export business ranked at the forefront of the national cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot zones, becoming a new growth engine for the development of China-ASEAN digital trade.

Nanning established a channel system by combining cross-border e-commerce with international transport, eliminating wait times at railway customs clearance. It built a system for gathering talents and industries, helped cross-border enterprises cooperate with 21 colleges and universities in the city to establish the Guangxi cross-border e-commerce industry and education alliance, as well as set up the first cross-border innovation ecological service center in China.

In Chongzuo, Guangxi's first border cross-border bonded warehouse was put into use, the region's first 1,210 bonded export model was implemented, as well as the country's first international mail, express, and cross-border e-commerce customs clearance center was put into operation. In addition, the city initiated a new cross-border e-commerce payment and settlement model, as well as made innovations in the construction of a cross-border e-commerce enterprise credit evaluation system.

An officer of the Commerce Department of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region said that Guangxi will promote the construction of the Nanning Airport International Cross-Border E-Commerce Center and the Pingxiang Cross-border E-commerce Industrial Park in 2022. The region will also support enterprises to deploy overseas warehouses in ASEAN countries, such as Vietnam and Thailand, as well as promote the construction of cross-border e-commerce logistics center warehouses.
