A train named X9578 loaded with 2,200 metric tons of pulp and shortening from Thailand and Indonesia departed from Qinzhou Port to Chongqing on Jan 9. It marks the completion of the electrification project of Qinzhougangdong Railway Station, a part of Guangxi's 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25).

Qinzhougangdong Railway Station is a hub station for the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor. It connects 14 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities, 47 cities, and 91 stations in China to the land and connects 311 ports in 106 countries on six continents to the sea.

After the project is completed, the rail-sea intermodal train of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor can directly enter Qinzhou Port from Qinzhougangdong Railway Station. The overall train running duration will be reduced by 58 percent from 147 minutes down to 65 minutes.

In 2021, the cargo throughput of Beibu Gulf Port was 269.4 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 13.09 percent, and the transport containers were 6.01 million Twenty-feet Equivalent Units (TEU), a year-on-year increase of 19.01 percent. The western land-sea new channel sent 570,000 TEUs, a 57.5 percent growth.
