Chongzuo area of Guangxi FTZ gains momentum in developing cross-border industries

The Chongzuo area of China (Guangxi) Pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ) has been taking an active part in promoting the agglomeration development of a cross-border industrial chain since its establishment in 2019, local media outlets reported on Oct 11.

A total of 284,400 cargos entered or left the Youyiguan border gate in Chongzuo in the first eight months of 2021, an increase of 31.21 percent year on year, and transport of an overall cargo volume of 2.92 million metric tons increased by 42.49 percent year on year.

The Youyiguan border gate completed a total of 236,900 customs declarations from January to August, increasing by 44.02 percent year on year and the value of all the cargos expanded by 52.5 percent year on year to 209.86 billion yuan ($32.52 billion).

The Chongzuo area has released several innovative measures to improve the clearance efficiency at the Youyiguan border gate such as applying a fully intelligent clearance process and will launch an online smart dispatching system for trucks at the border gate. 

Efforts have also been made in developing convenient and fast cross-border logistics. Currently, the Chongzuo area has opened 22 cross-border roads and 13 cross-border train routes to more than 20 major ASEAN cities.
