The establishment of the working group for the application of the China (Guangxi) Pilot Free Trade Zone

The government of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region set up a leading group for the application of the China (Guangxi) Pilot Free Trade Zone on Jan 29, 2019. Chen Wu, chairman of the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, acted as the group's head. The preparatory work

The General Planning was submitted to the State Council for official publication.

The Ministry of Commerce submitted the General Planning of the China (Guangxi) Pilot Free Trade Zone to the State Council for official publication on July 19, 2019. The Zone covers a total area of 119.99 square kilometers, of which the Nanning area covers 46.8 sq km, the Chongzuo area covers 15 sq km and the Qinzhou Port area covers 58.19 sq km.

Aug 26

The China (Guangxi) Pilot Free Trade Zone was approved for establishment.

The State Council approved the establishment of the China (Guangxi) Pilot Free Trade Zone and published the General Planning of the Zone on Aug 26, 2019. The Zone includes the Nanning area, Qinzhou port area and Chongzuo area, with an area totaling 119.99 sq km. Guangxi ushers in another great development opportunity after the construction of the new western land-sea corridor became part of the national strategy.

The China (Guangxi) Pilot Free Trade Zone was unveiled and put into operation on the morning of Aug 30, 2019. Lu Xinshe, Party secretary of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and director of the Standing Committee of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Regional People's Congress, and Chen Wu, deputy Party secretary and chairman of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, participated in the unveiling ceremony. The construction headquarters of the China (Guangxi) Pilot Free Trade Zone held its fourth commander working conference on Oct 10, 2019. Chen Wu, chairman of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, inspected the construction of the China (Guangxi) Pilot Free Trade Zone and presided over a symposium at the Guangxi Department of Commerce on Oct 11, 2019. Chen stressed that the autonomous region should focus on key tasks, be eager to innovate, insist on high standards and high quality and create a pilot free trade zone with Guangxi characteristics.

The construction headquarters office of the China (Guangxi) Pilot Free Trade Zone held the fourth training program in Nanning on Jan 15, 2020. Gu Zhangwei, inspector of the Guangxi Department of Commerce, attended the program and delivered an opening speech.

The leading group of the China (Guangxi) Pilot Free Trade Zone held a plenary meeting on June 18, 2020. The attendees listened to the report on the construction progress of the Zone, deliberated relevant documents and related issues, and determined the tasks of the next phase. Lu Xinshe, Party secretary of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and director of the Standing Committee of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Regional People’s Congress, chaired the meeting and delivered a speech. Lu emphasized that all attendees should  implement the decisions made by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, insist on high standards and high quality, promote coordinative and innovative development, and optimize institutional settings, so as to serve national strategies and facilitate local development. Chen Wu, deputy Party secretary and chairman of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, also attended the meeting and made a keynote speech.

Nanning Branch of China (Guangxi) Intellectual Property Rights Aid Center established

The unveiling ceremonies of the Nanning Branch of the China (Guangxi) Intellectual Property Rights Aid Center and the Nanning Area of the China (Guangxi) Pilot Free Trade Zone Branch of the China (Guangxi) Intellectual Property Rights Aid Center were held by the Nanning Municipal Bureau for Market Regulation on June 23, 2020. The establishment of the two branches marks the legalization and normalization of intellectual property rights work in Nanning. Increasing the rights-protection awareness of patentees and the public, as well as improving public services in the field of intellectual property, are beneficial in encouraging inventiveness and innovation and will accelerate the construction of an innovative Nanning.
