The cross-border electronic commerce industry in Nanning, capital of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, has seen accelerated growth in recent years, local media outlets reported on Sept 29.

As an important component for the replacement of old growth drivers with new ones in global trade, cross-border e-commerce has gradually become a key factor for promoting economic growth and replacement.

Nanning officials said that the city shall cast eyes on the ASEAN market to develop the cross-border e-commerce industry and establish centers for distribution and trade for exported products from ASEAN.

At present, more than 90 cross-border e-commerce companies and over 600 logistics companies have settled down in Nanning.

Nanning cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot zone finished a total of 48.78 million cross-border e-commerce import and export transactions in the first eight months of this year with a total trading volume of 3.56 billion yuan ($552.19 million), which is a year-on-year increase of 265.7 percent.

"The cross-border e-commerce industry can effectively stimulate the consumer market and create more momentum in the foreign trade export market," an official from Nanning commerce bureau said.
