Guilin's cultural and tourism market boomed during the 2025 National Day-Mid-Autumn holiday (Oct 1-8). It received 9.42 million domestic and foreign tourists, with new formats like night tours driving the growth momentum.
Official data indicated the city's tourism revenue reached 10.65 billion yuan ($1.48 billion), showing a year-on-year increase of 15.6 percent. Tourist numbers increased by 15.1 percent compared to the previous year. Major attractions experienced a surge in visitors – over 700,000 people took waterway tours on the Lijiang River on Oct 4 and 5.
Elephant Trunk Hill, Guilin's iconic landmark, ranked 4th among China's top 10 popular scenic spots on Oct 1.
Its free real-name timed reservation system boosted nearby business districts, shifting from a ticket-focused economy to comprehensive consumption covering dining, accommodation and shopping.
Nighttime tourism thrived, with the Two Rivers and Four Lakes Scenic Area's lantern fair and cruises drawing over 10,000 visitors each day. Attractions like the Sun-Moon Twin Towers and Dongxi Alley mesmerized tourists with their stunning nightscapes. "Strolling here and watching light shows is so delightful," said a visitor from Guangdong.
Rural tourism and film and television intellectual property experience tourism also gained popularity. Longji Terraced Fields' golden autumn scenery and over 100 events including music festivals drew visitors.
