The 75-kilometer Quanzhou-Guanyang Expressway project in Guilin, with a total investment of 92.72 billion yuan ($12.65 billion), has been moving forward with its construction, gearing up for its operation by Nov 30.

The project has already invested 66.49 billion yuan, with over 1,250 pieces of equipment and 2,200 workers on site.

By the end of 2024, 82 percent of the roadbed excavation and filling, 91 percent of bridge pile foundations, 70 percent of bridge piers, 35 percent of box girder prefabrication, and 22 percent of girder installation were completed. Phase I of the project is fully underway, transitioning to Phase II, including roadbed earthworks and pavement work.

The expressway starts at the border of Hunan and Guangxi and ends in Xinyu town, Guanyang county. It is designed as a four-lane highway with a speed limit of 120 km per hour and a roadbed width of 26.5 meters.

The project is projected to significantly improve Guangxi's transportation infrastructure, enhance connectivity between Hunan, Guangxi, and Guangdong, and support Guilin's development as a world-class tourist city.
