Guanyang County, located in the northeast of Guangxi, covers a total area of 1,837 square kilometers and has six towns and three townships under its jurisdiction. By the end of 2021, the county has over 108,400 registered households and a total population of nearly 300,000. It is a mountainous and hilly area with typical karst landform.
Guanyang County has a long history, and boasts outstanding people, excellent ecological environment, and rich products. Established in 168 BC, it was renamed Guanyang County in 617 AD.
As the place where Qianjiadong, the birthplace of the Yao nationality, Guanyang is the spiritual home of the Yao people. It has the Qianjiadong National Nature Reserve and Haiyang Mountain Nature Reserve.
The county's forest coverage rate is 75.73 percent, ranking among the top in Guangxi, and the number of rivers in the county is 47, including great rivers and streams. The Guanjiang River, one of the source rivers of the Xiangjiang River, has a total length of 144 kilometers and a drainage area of 2,100 square kilometers. Its hydropower reserve is 186,000 kilowatts, and the reserves of marble and the quartz sand is more than one billion cubic meters, respectively. The daily development of mineral water, which is rich in radon, selenium and other healthy trace elements, reaches 600 tons.
The county is also well-known for pears, black plums, big sweet potatoes, Chinese yew, and the high-yielding super rice.
Guanyang County has five characteristic industries: manganese circular economy, mineral processing machinery manufacturing, stone, wood, and food and drug deep processing.
In addition, the county develops agricultural brands, and the planting area of high-quality fruits reaches over 17,000 hectares.
The cultures of Yao ethnic group, Gui opera, farm tools, revolutionary sites, tea and food inject impetus into economic and social development.
Guanyang will build Xiaolong Village, a Yao people township and a famous tourist village in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous region, for characteristic culture and good ecological environment.
It will also protect and build Yueling Village, a famous historical and cultural village in China, Jiangkou Village, a famous village in Guangxi, and 14 traditional Chinese villages.
Efforts will be made to develop new agricultural entities, building one national demonstration farmer cooperative and 17 demonstration family farms and cooperatives at the autonomous region level.
In 2021, the county received a total of 4.25 million tourists, a year-on-year increase of 31.78 percent, and the total tourism consumption was 4.146 billion yuan, up by 37.48 percent.
So far, Guanyang has six new wholesale, retail and accommodation enterprises, one service enterprise above designated size, and two real estate enterprises.
The county's financial institutions issued preferential loans of 446 million yuan, reducing the financing cost of market players by 89 million yuan.
The balance of RMB deposits and loans was 21.97 billion yuan, an increase of 14.5 percent year on year.
The turnover of other for-profit service industries above the designated size was 191 million yuan, a growth of 37.4 percent, and the growth rate ranked among the top in Guilin City.
