Hechi sees remarkable growth in transport sector

As the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period concludes, Hechi city in South China's Guangxi Zhang autonomous region has witnessed transformative development in its transport sector.

Over the past five years, Hechi has achieved historic milestones in transport infrastructure and transport services, including the completion of high-speed railways and comprehensive highway networks, significantly enhancing regional connectivity and economic development.

Investment in transport infrastructure reached 124.6 billion yuan ($17.8 billion). The sustained financial input in this sector has fueled the city's development, establishing a robust foundation for future progress.

The opening of the Guiyang-Nanning High-Speed Railway in 2023 marked another major breakthrough, positioning Hechi as a crucial node in the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, and enhancing access to major economic zones. In 2025, the expansion of the Guizhou-Guangxi Railway and new highway projects further solidified Hechi's transport network. The total length of operational highways in the city has now reached 1,183 kilometers.

Rural infrastructure also saw notable advancements, with over 6,560 kilometers of rural roads constructed or upgraded, improving accessibility and safety. The nation's "Four Good Rural Roads" initiative recognized Hechi for its exemplary rural road management.

Transport services have diversified, with increased options like customized bus routes and integrated transport hubs, boosting passenger and freight efficiency. The city's commitment to multi-modal transport solutions and cost-effective logistics supports local industries and rural vitalization.

Hechi's transport achievements during the 14th Five-Year Plan period not only enhance connectivity but also drive economic growth and rural prosperity, setting a benchmark for regional development.
