Hechi hosts cultural festival to celebrate bronze drum traditions
On Dec 14, a performance showcasing the accomplishments of the Bronze Drum Culture (Hechi) Ecological Protection Zone was held in Jinchengjiang district, Hechi. The event presented audiences with a lively and vibrant cultural extravaganza that celebrated the region's rich and diverse traditions.
The performances highlighted various art forms, including a drum show and traditional dances. Other captivating acts included Sichuan Opera stunts and a lively tea-picking song. With 17 programs performed by participants ranging from students to senior artists, the event demonstrated the dynamic preservation of Hechi's intangible cultural heritage.
Recognized as Guangxi's sole national-level bronze drum eco-reserve in July 2023, the area spans 11 counties along the Hongshui River. It is working to safeguard 996 intangible heritage items, 13 of which are nationally recognized, and nurture 445 practitioners of intangible cultural heritage items, including eight at the national level.
With 125 cultural venues and 20 cultural workshops established, the protection zone continues to breathe new life into traditional culture.
