Culture, art extravaganza celebrates Hechi's culture
The eagerly anticipated opening ceremony of the 11th Guangxi Mass Culture and Art Gala was held on the evening of Nov 15 at Citizens' Square in the Yizhou district of Hechi city.
The ongoing gala – which runs to Nov 19 – is the biggest of its kind in South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, with the highest standards and the most participants.
For this year's event, more than 140 teams from all walks of life and nearly 3,000 performers from all over the region gathered in Hechi.
Through various forms of art, the performers presented 16 special shows, including choral concerts, stage dramas and instrumental music.
These showcased Guangxi's achievements in its reforms and development, urban and rural construction, rural vitalization, ethnic unity and the integration of its culture and tourism.
The gala featured a raft of programs from Hechi, showing the city's impressive record of in cultural and art services for the public.
As the host of the gala this year, Hechi has rich cultural resources. It boasts a long history of bronze drums, folk songs and silk production as well as the rich intangible cultural heritage of its minority groups.
