Maonan ethnic settlement enters high-speed rail era
On Aug 31, the Guiyang-Nanning High-Speed Railway opened to traffic, meaning Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county has entered the era of high-speed rail and integrated itself into the "one-hour economic circle" of Nanning and Guiyang.
The Huanjiang section of the Guiyang-Nanning High-Speed Rail has a total length of 56.07 kilometers, passing through four towns: Sien, Shuiyuan, Xianan, and Chuanshan.
Huanjiang is the only Maonan autonomous county in the country, with more than 65,000 Maonan people living here. In May 2020, Huanjiang was removed from the list of impoverished counties.
Construction on the Guiyang-Nanning High-Speed Rail started at the end of 2016 and took more than six years to complete.
The high-speed rail not only resolves the transportation problems facing the Maonan people, but also facilitates exchanges among Guangxi, Guizhou and Guangdong, promoting local economic development.
With the opening of the rail, many tourists have decided to visit Huanjiang.
On the evening of Aug 31, Huanjiang celebrated the opening of the high-speed rail with a spectacular ethnic cultural performance in Liulanglei town. People from various ethnic groups in the county and a tourist group that arrived on the rail enjoyed a wonderful ethnic cultural feast.
In order to meet the travel needs of the people, the county has added three bus routes from the urban area to Huanjiang Station.
