Huanjiang holds 8-day Fenlong Festival celebrations
The Maonan Fenlong Festival and the eighth World Natural Heritage Cultural Tourism Festival are being held in Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county from June 26 to July 3.
Huanjiang is the only Maonan autonomous county in China. The Fenglong Festival is a traditional festival for the Maonan ethnic group, originally celebrated to pray for a bumper harvest. It takes place in the fifth month of the lunar calendar each year.
This year's Fenglong Festival celebrations will last for eight days, with 14 events, including an opening ceremony, a dragon boat open competition, and an academic salon themed on the Fenlong Festival. Other activities, such as a Maonan folk song and dance show and a calligraphy and painting exhibition, will also take place.
The celebrations will promote traditional Maonan culture, enhance the brand influence of the Huanjiang's heritage, and promote comprehensive tourism development in Huanjiang.
