In recent years, Hechi's Nandan county has made efforts to develop its agricultural industry relying on local advantages in terms of ecological agriculture, ethnic cultural tourism and other resources. In the first nine months of 2022, the total output value of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fisheries in the county was 1.77 billion yuan ($247 million), up 5.8 percent year-on-year.

This year the county has issued 30.63 million yuan of financial funds to support the development of cattle, ecological rice, tea, and other characteristic industries, benefiting 42 business entities and promoting the large-scale and standardized development of the agricultural industry.

It has also established 32 key industry demonstration bases, 34 pig farms with more than 100 pigs, 130 farms with more than 10 cattle each, 40 farmers with at least 100 sheep, and 24 farmers with over 1,000 poultry.

Moreover, the county has recognized 35 agricultural products, spanning a total area of 198,500 mu (13,233 hectares).

Local authorities continue to promote the closer integration of agriculture and culture, education, tourism, healthcare and other industries. The Lyudao Huahai Pastoral Complex combines healthcare, leisure agriculture, cultural creativity, and boutique industries. It is the only pilot project of an autonomous-region-level pastoral complex in Hechi.

The county has also built numerous modern agricultural demonstration parks. Nandan now has nine of these on the autonomous region level.

In 2021 the county held a range of rural leisure tourism activities, such as its Farmers' Harvest Festival and another tourism festival focused on tea culture. To date, the county has built two beautiful leisure villages, two national leisure agriculture and rural tourism demonstration sites, and five Guangxi leisure agriculture and rural tourism demonstration sites. It welcomes 300,000 visitors a year on average, generating revenue in excess of 50 million yuan from rural leisure tourism.
