Hechi arranges funds to support development of ethnic areas

Since last year, Hechi has increased the use of project funds in ethnic areas to aid ethnic minorities' development through poverty alleviation and relocation, comprehensive rocky desertification control, rural roads, education, and health.

From January to November 2021, five ethnic minority autonomous counties in Hechi, including Luocheng Mulam autonomous county, Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county, Bama Yao autonomous county, Du'an Yao autonomous county, and Dahua Yao autonomous county, received 396 million yuan ($59.5 million) from the central budget to support the construction of 27 projects.

In order to speed up the development of small populations of ethnic minorities such as Maonan and Mulam, the city has received 28.25 million yuan from the central budget and 6.91 million yuan from Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region in 2021.

Last year, eight projects including Hechi Huanjiang Industrial Park Investment and Development Company and Dahua emergency material reserve system infrastructure construction project were awarded 470 million yuan of local government special bond funds.

In 2021, the city received 561.6 million yuan worth of subsidy funds for rural vitalization from the autonomous region, and planned 95 construction projects. Among them, five ethnic minority autonomous counties planned 53 special fund subsidy projects, accounting for 55.79 percent of the city's total, and the subsidy fund is 286.06 million yuan, which accounts for 50.94 percent of the city's total. To date, the 53 projects have all started construction, and 12 of them have been completed.
