At the construction site of Hechi's Longjiang Four-Line Bridge, part of the Guiyang-Nanning High-speed Railway, builders have been toiling away in the hot summer weather.

The Hechi section of the Guiyang-Nanning High-speed Railway is 164.5 kilometers long and passes through Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county,  Jinchengjiang district, Yizhou district, and Du'an Yao autonomous county. There are 35 bridges totaling 38.47 km in length, and 25 tunnels totaling 105.24 km. The bridges and tunnels account for 88.2 percent of the total length of the Hechi section.

From January to May this year, a total of 1.27 billion yuan ($197 million) was invested in the Hechi section.

As of May 30, 7.73 million square meters of the roadbed and station construction had been completed in the Hechi section, accounting for 84.6 percent of the total, while 99.2 percent of the bridge projects had been completed, and 80.8 percent of the tunnel projects had been completed.

The railway starts at Guizhou Longli North Railway Station and ends at Nanning East Railway Station, running for a total length of about 482 km and stopping at 14 stations. The first section of the railway started construction on December 29, 2016. It is expected to be completed and open to traffic in Dec 2023.

After it is put into operation, the journey from Nanning to Guiyang will be shortened to about two hours, bringing new development opportunities to Guizhou province and Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.
