In recent years, Nandan county has taken steps to protect its intangible cultural heritage, in order to broaden the reach of traditional ethnic culture and enrich people's cultural lives.

With a number of ethnic groups such as the Zhuang, Yao, Miao and Sui, Hechi's Nandan county is rich in intangible cultural heritage resources. There are various  intangible cultural heritage projects, including four at national level, 13 at autonomous region level, six at municipal level and 85 at county level. In addition, there are two national inheritors, 14 autonomous region level inheritors, 10 at city level and 15 at county level.

Nandan has carried out extensive investigation and research into its intangible cultural heritage resources, and established a database of 17,000 photos, 2,032 GB of audio and video materials, as well as 140,000 written documents.

The county has built 18 cultural platforms and venues, and given full play to their role in promoting the tourism development and rural revitalization.

Folk festivals and cultural activities such as Baikuyao's Nianjie Festival, Zhuang's Maguai Festival and Ox Soul Festival are held every year to celebrate ethnic cultures.

Nandan also hosts many campus activities, inviting cultural inheritors to teach their traditional skills.

The county also actively participates in exhibition and exchange activities. For example, it often organizes Zhuang, Yao and Miao customs performance teams to show off their traditional culture in Hechi, Guangxi and even nationwide, which draws significant attention.
