Qin Qingmei, a migrant in Dahua, now earns a living by making her hometown's special snack, Gongchuan buns, in Dahong town. The special snacks are very popular with customers.

There are nearly 30,000 poor people in Dahua Yao autonomous county like Qin Qingmei, living a happy life following relocation. Meanwhile, the county has taken steps to support their employment and entrepreneurship.

With the help of the government's relocation policy, Lan Fulin emigrated to the Gujiang resettlement area with his family in 2019. The government gave him a subsidy of 5,000 yuan ($780.8), and a small discount loan of 50,000 yuan, so that he could open his barber shop. "Now I have an income of about 30,000 yuan a year, which is much better than living in mountain areas," Lan said.

The Gujiang resettlement area has made efforts to develop its tourism industry and hospitality sector. There are more than 150 merchants around the area providing over 3,000 job opportunities.

Dahua has created migrant workers' "pioneering parks", gourmet food areas and e-commerce areas in urban resettlement sites, and has built factories in township resettlement sites.

Yang Haiyang, deputy director of Dahua county's poverty alleviation office, said that Dahua will continue to help migrants increase their incomes and live a better life through employment, entrepreneurship and the development of characteristic industries.
