Road construction is booming in Hechi's Donglan county, and helped the county shake off poverty as scheduled in 2020, Hechi Daily reported on May 21.
Donglan county is characterized by mountainous terrain. The harsh natural conditions historically made it difficult to communicate with the outside world, which seriously restricted local economic and social development.
The county has increased its investment in transportation infrastructure since 2016. Over the past five years, its transportation infrastructure has been significantly improved at a cost of about 2.2 billion ($341.9 million) yuan.
By the end of 2019, the total length of roads in Donglan county was 1,342.76 kilometers, of which 94.96 km were national roads, 122.41 km were provincial roads, 231.37 km were county roads, 562.45 km were town roads, and 331.57 km were village roads.
Secondary roads including Wuzhuan-Simeng and Wuai-Donglan were constructed, while the road network was also shaped by the construction of county and town roads like Donglan-Daxing, Bachou-Jingu and Changle-Huaxiang.
