Hechi People's Congress session opens

GDP rose by 5 percent, total retail sales of consumer goods increased by 10.1 percent, and per capita disposable income of all residents grew by 9.5 percent in 2016, according to the government work report given at the Second Session of the Fourth Hechi Municipal People's Congress.

The session opened on Jan 20, hosted by He Xinxing, executive chairman of the presidium of the congress. Mayor Tang Yunshu, on behalf of the Hechi Municipal People's Government, delivered a work report reviewing the past year and making work arrangements for 2017.

In 2016, the city is estimated to have achieved gross domestic product of 65 billion yuan ($9.45 billion), up by 5 percent year-on-year. The value added of industrial enterprises above designated size reached 13.5 billion yuan, rising by 3 percent. Per capita disposable income of all residents citywide hit 13,175 yuan.

In 2017, the government expects GDP to grow by 6 percent; the value-added amount of industrial enterprises above designated size is to increase by 5 percent; investment in fixed assets is to escalate by 10 percent; fiscal revenue is to rise by 6 percent; per capita disposable income of all residents is to grow by 7.7percent; and the energy saving and emission reduction indicators will meet requirements set by the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.

Tang said that the government will work on eight aspects to ensure the New Year targets – to launch targeted poverty alleviation moves; promote industrial upgrading; boost modern agriculture and expand channels for increasing farmers' incomes; upgrade the modern service industry; improve infrastructure construction; keep up the coordinated development between urban and rural areas; deepen the overall reforms and increase the level of openness and cooperation; and push for the improvement of people's livelihood.
