Construction of Hechi elderly university begins

The commencement ceremony for construction of Hechi Elderly University was held in Hechi, Guangxi, on the morning of Dec 24.

Hechi's organization department head Li Chu hosted the ceremony. He Xinxing, secretary of the Hechi municipal Party committee, announced the commencement of the construction.

The university is next to Hechi Worker's Culture Hall. Its overall floorage area will be 9,565 square meters and the planned construction land covers 8,977 square meters. With a budget estimate of 43.45 million yuan ($6.7 million), the university will be equipped with classrooms, exhibition rooms, reading rooms, activity rooms, a playground, an assembly hall and offices.

The project will satisfy the study and exercise demands of the elderly in the city and enrich their spiritual and cultural lives.
