Nearly 100 agricultural experts with PhD degrees started their science and technology service activity in Hechi on July 9, Hechi Daily reported.

The doctors came from famous Chinese institutions of higher learning such as China Agricultural University, Beijing Forestry University and Nanjing Agricultural University.

Staying in Hechi for eight days, the experts will be divided into nine groups and carry out scientific and technical training and special research in Jinchengjiang, Yizhou, Huanjiang, Nandan, Tian'e, Bama, Fengshan, Du'an and Hechi Agricultural Science Research Institute respectively. They will help promote Hechi's economic development in vegetable production, forest products processing, walnut production and fishery resources exploitation.

Li Chu, member of the Hechi municipal standing committee, said at the launch ceremony that the activity is of great significance in attracting more high-level talents, promoting exchange and cooperation between universities and local government, and facilitating industry transformation and upgrading.

Li hoped the experts could give full play to their professional knowledge and contribute to Hechi's social development. He called on local government departments to attach importance to the activity and lend their support.
