The trial planting of black corn in Nandan county, Hechi, Guangxi, is a success, reported Hechi Daily on July 9.

The station for popularizing agricultural techniques in Chengguan town, Nandan, introduced black corn this year. Surveys predict a yield of 524.58 kilograms/mu (34.97 kilograms/hectare).

With a higher price than common corn, black corn has a market price of 12 yuan ($1.93) per kilogram and the output value per mu can reach 6,295 yuan.

Nandan county agricultural bureau will gradually promote the cultivation of black corn in the whole county to make it a new approach which can increase farmers' income.
