Hechi to establish 97 basic-level elderly associations

Hechi is to establish 97 basic-level elderly associations this year, financed by the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.

Each association has received expenditure of 30,000 yuan ($4,836) from Guangxi government and the construction is under preparation.

The fund will be wholly used in infrastructure construction and daily activities. The new normalized elderly associations will not only have integrated organization structures, but also have 200-square-meter activity areas, 15 square meters of office space, five kinds of cultural and recreational facilities and over three categories of books and newspapers.

The associations are organizations managed and served by senior residents. After completion Hechi will have 360 demonstrative basic-level elderly associations in total.

The establishment of more elderly associations not only helps enrich old people's spiritual and cultural lives, but also helps them participate in public welfare and social construction.
