The 2025 China (Nanning)-ASEAN Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Import and Export Supplier Conference opened in Nanning, Guangxi, on Aug 26.
Government officials, entrepreneurs and scholars from China and ASEAN gathered to discuss high-quality TCM trade and explore cooperation.
TCM, a treasure of Chinese civilization, has long connected China and ASEAN. The two sides have complementary TCM resources, allowing for deeper cooperation.
As a key China-ASEAN hub, Nanning has boosted TCM collaboration with ASEAN in recent years – hosting trade seminars, training medical staff with Vietnam, and building a Zhu Lian Acupuncture base with Laos.
Endowed with rich TCM resources, Nanning launched a China-ASEAN TCM import-export platform in March 2024. It has since imported 16,000 metric tons of TCM materials and food-medicine products, with total imports growing to over $45.1 million.
Nanning proposed a "1+3+4+N" industrial matrix: "1" refers to a Guangxi TCM Trade Center (in Wuxiang New Area and Nanning FTZ Area); "3" refers to three carriers; "4" refers to four TCM industries; and "N" refers to multiple bases.
The conference also featured various parallel events, a rare TCM committee launch, excellent case releases, and exhibitions by 15 domestic and foreign TCM institutions.
