To boost car consumption, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region has rolled out its 2025 car trade-in subsidy scheme, effective from Jan 1 to Dec 31, 2025, in line with national policies.
The program focuses on two categories: scrap-and-renew and trade-in. For scrap-and-renew, individuals who scrap qualified old cars (such as gasoline-powered passenger cars registered on or before June 30, 2012) and purchase new New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) included in the tax-exempt NEV catalog will receive a subsidy of 20,000 yuan ($2,800).
Those buying new fuel-powered passenger cars with a displacement of 2.0 liters or below will receive 15,000 yuan.
For trade-ins, subsidies vary by new car prices. Buyers of new NEVs can receive 8,000 to 15,000 yuan, while those purchasing new fuel-powered cars are eligible for 7,000 to 13,000 yuan. Each individual can apply for one scrap-and-renew subsidy and one trade-in subsidy.
Applications are submitted via national car circulation platforms or the Cloud QuickPass app. Authorities will complete application reviews within seven days and disburse funds within 20 days of approval. Strict post-verification and supervision measures are in place to prevent subsidy fraud.
Guangxi will strengthen fund management and supervision to ensure the program drives local auto market growth.
