Guangxi General Station of Immigration Inspection reported on Aug 23 that it processed over 2 million inbound and outbound passengers between July 1 and Aug 22, reflecting a 17.8 percent increase compared to the previous year, driven by a surge in summer cross-border tourism.
This year celebrates the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Vietnam, as well as the "China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges".
At the China-Vietnam Detian-Ban Gioc Waterfall cross-border tourism cooperation zone, joint summer events such as the cross-border floating market and waterfall-viewing rice field concerts increased tourist numbers.
To manage the peak, Shuolong border inspection station implemented simple measures – such as no fingerprint collection, no inspection stamp, and no entry card filling – as well as an "online quick review" system. These efforts increased the passenger volume in the cooperation zone by 17.4 percent year-on-year.
Thanks to visa facilitation, Nanning Port, a major ASEAN-focused aviation hub, welcomed 35,300 inbound passengers through 364 flights.
Youyiguan Port, or Friendship Pass, a key land route between China and ASEAN, handled 373,000 passengers, marking a 30 percent increase. The port features streamlined clearance processes such as pre-checks and adjusted channels.
Dongxing Port, near Vietnam's Mong Cai, handled over 1.32 million passengers with increased police presence and improved procedures. Since July 1, Dongxing has added new high-speed rail connections to Guizhou, Sichuan, and other regions, enabling tourists to broaden their travel options across China.
