The second season of the "Along the Border to See China" media campaign was launched in Dongxing, Guangxi, on May 28, spotlighting the region's transformative efforts through six key initiatives: strengthening infrastructure, improving livelihoods, promoting industry, fostering openness, preserving the environment, and ensuring social stability.

Once remote and underdeveloped, Guangxi's border areas are now beacons of trade and prosperity. Key ports like Youyiguan and Dongxing are seeing record cross-border trade volumes, with the region becoming a major conduit for tropical fruit imports from ASEAN countries. Projects like cooperative farming, cold chain logistics, and smart port upgrades have empowered border residents and boosted incomes.

Meanwhile, villages like Baidang and Nonggang are thriving through specialty agriculture, e-commerce, and eco-tourism. Nonggang, once reliant on logging and hunting, has reinvented itself as a birdwatching haven, attracting thousands of visitors and supporting sustainable rural livelihoods.

With border trade totaling 756.4 billion yuan ($105.3 billion) in 2024 and rural income on the rise, Guangxi exemplifies China's success in turning frontier regions into engines of development—where a stronger border means a better life for the people who call it home.
