The National Quality Infrastructure Services for China (Guangxi)-Laos Economic and Trade Open Cooperation was recently held in Vientiane, Laos. Delegates from both sides engaged in bilateral promotion and exchange on economic and trade cooperation and industrial collaboration.
During the conference, Guangxi's Market Supervision Administration signed an agreement with the Planting Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the Guangxi Chamber of Commerce in Laos. The three parties agreed to collaborate on developing standards, establishing standardized crop planting demonstration zones, and providing training.
Guangxi's Market Supervision Administration has deepened its interactions with ASEAN countries by jointly developing and sharing standards, forming inspection and testing alliances, and undertaking international cooperation projects.
It has established China's only national-level standard institutional opening platform aimed at ASEAN, facilitating the establishment of three International Organization for Standardization (ISO) secretariats in Guangxi. Collaborative efforts with the Lao Ministry of Industry and Trade have developed basic terminology standards for Lao railway engineering.
Additionally, joint research with agricultural departments in Laos, Myanmar, and other countries has focused on developing standards for crops such as watermelon, banana, cassava, and passion fruit, enhancing crop yield and quality. These cooperative achievements have been featured in a special report by China Central Television.
The administration has also provided safety inspection and testing, technical specifications, and management services for 15 projects in Laos. These efforts have promoted mutual recognition of conformity assessment procedures, facilitated China-Laos economic and trade cooperation, and advanced trade facilitation, thereby contributing to high-quality economic development for both parties.
