Nanning to establish China-ASEAN AI center

Nanning city in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region plans to establish the China-ASEAN AI Innovation Cooperation Center, aiming to foster AI industry collaboration and exchange between China and ASEAN countries, local officials announced on March 18.

Nanning has made significant progress recently in enhancing its cross-border industry, finance, and digital trade support systems. By focusing on industry empowerment and public services, the city has identified several AI demonstration application scenarios, promoting the adoption of AI technologies both domestically and across ASEAN. Leveraging its geographical proximity and language expertise with ASEAN, Nanning aims to attract AI technologies, enterprises, and talent, positioning itself as a hub for the AI industry.

Several leading companies have engaged with Nanning, reaching cooperation agreements in model training, data annotation, AI education, culture, tourism, and lifestyle applications.

The city is planning to develop key projects, including a computing power center cluster, an ASEAN language corpus, and a China-ASEAN AI computing power dispatch platform. Additionally, Nanning is collaborating on establishing the School of Artificial Intelligence at Guangxi University, which will provide AI training to ASEAN countries, fostering the development of AI talent in the region.
