Officials announced during a Jan 6 meeting on high-quality economic development in Nanning that the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region plans to build a modern AI-led industrial system and promote synchronized AI development with ASEAN.
The region has made significant strides in AI innovation in recent years, attracting companies like VNET Group, CNKI, and DataOcean AI. The digital economy in Guangxi has grown rapidly, with an average annual growth rate of over 10 percent for three consecutive years.
In the past two years, Guangxi has signed over 30 digital cooperation agreements with ASEAN countries, accelerating the application of digital technologies like the Beidou Navigation Satellite System and AI in ASEAN.
Officials put forward a batch of proposed measures during the meeting, including establishing an AI platform for domestic and international markets, accelerating the China-ASEAN Hongshui River New Energy Data Center project, and promoting cross-border application scenarios in the ASEAN market.
In addition, Nanning has planned to leverage its existing infrastructure and collaborate with leading companies like Huawei to create a cross-border AI innovation cooperation platform, establishing itself as an AI industry hub targeting ASEAN.
