Guangxi sees border tourism surge in 2024

Pingxiang in the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region received 9.67 million tourists in 2024, with a 10.03 percent year-on-year increase, Guangxi Daily reported on Jan 3.

The one-day tour has become a famous choice for domestic tourists who want to explore places like Dong Dang and Lang Son in Vietnam, while Vietnamese visitors are fond of enjoying Pingxiang's landscape and shopping.

Wei Lihua, a guide with over 10 years of experience, busily explained the day trip itineraries to visitors while assisting them with the exit procedures. Since 2024, Wei has led over 100 cross-border one-day tour groups, each comprising 10 to 30 people.

Pingxiang, renowned as an outstanding tourist city, has been integrating tourism resources, enhancing infrastructure, and diversifying cross-border tourism products and routes to promote the growing trend of cross-border tourism.

In the first 11 months of 2024, border tourism in Pingxiang handled 3,895 batches of one-day tour groups, totaling 57,900 visitors, marking a recent peak in outbound tourism.

In addition, efforts have been made by the city to foster international tourism by nurturing cross-border travel routes, further enhancing its tourism brand's visibility, influence, and appeal.
