On Dec 6, the Hechi (Yizhou) Western Transit Road opened to traffic, becoming Hechi's 16th operational expressway. Spanning 45.44 kilometers with an intended speed of 120 km per hour, this four-lane highway connects key areas in Yizhou district, including Desheng, Beishan, and Tongde—important hubs for the local silkworm industry.
As China's largest silk production base, Hechi plays a vital role in the nation's silk industry. The new road enhances logistics efficiency, linking major production areas and facilitating the export of silkworm products. Local businesses anticipate increased trade opportunities, further boosting rural vitalization efforts and injecting new momentum into regional economic development.
As a key part of Guangxi's expressway network plan, the project was completed in just over two years. With this addition, Hechi's total expressway mileage now exceeds 1,056 km, making it the third city in Guangxi to achieve this milestone.
The road strengthens Hechi's position as a regional transportation hub, advancing high-quality economic growth and enhancing connections to broader regional and international trade networks.
