Guangxi's trade with ASEAN surges by 24.3% in first 7 months
Guangxi has hosted the China-ASEAN Expo & Summit for 20 consecutive years, and its interactions with ASEAN countries have been increasingly close. The bilateral trade between Guangxi and ASEAN has rapidly expanded, with ASEAN being Guangxi's largest trading partner for 24 consecutive years.
In 2023, the bilateral trade volume between Guangxi and ASEAN reached 339.44 billion yuan ($47.82 billion), hitting a historical high. In the first seven months of this year, Guangxi's total import and export value reached 401.33 billion yuan, with trade with ASEAN at 214.93 billion yuan, a 24.3 percent year-on-year increase.
Guangxi is accelerating establishing a dual-cycle market for domestic and international operations to promote high-quality development through high-level openness. It is advancing the construction of the China-Vietnam smart border port project and has established over 40 China-ASEAN cooperation mechanisms covering transportation, trade, and other areas.
By tapping into the potential of open platforms such as the China-ASEAN Industrial Cooperation Zone, China (Guangxi) Pilot Free Trade Zone, and national economic and technological development zones, Guangxi has deepened cooperation with ASEAN countries in various aspects.
