ASEAN-China Forum on Work Safety Cooperation opens in Nanning

The 2023 ASEAN-China Forum on Work Safety Cooperation commenced in Nanning, capital of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, on Dec 4. It highlights issues such as safe production supervision, inspection and law enforcement.
Song Yuanming, vice minister of the Ministry of Emergency Management, said that China and ASEAN have maintained a good long-term cooperative relationship in safe production. China has been actively participating in important ASEAN events and representatives from ASEAN countries have also visited China several times to exchange experiences in safe production management.
Song proposed that China and ASEAN should strengthen rule of law cooperation, optimize management cooperation, promote personnel exchanges, and take more proactive measures to ensure that everyone receives proper safety protection in their workplaces.
Xu Yongke, vice chairman of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, noted that Guangxi will devote efforts to areas such as promoting the construction of China-ASEAN emergency management cooperation bases, deepening exchanges, and contributing to the development of regional emergency industries.
Ekkaphab Phanthavong, deputy secretary-general of ASEAN, put forward in his video speech that this forum has provided an effective platform for cooperation. He hoped that China would share more successful examples in safe production to strengthen mutual cooperation, and promote sustainable economic growth.
On the same day, the Department of Emergency Management of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region signed a cooperation agreement with relevant units and enterprises to promote the construction of an emergency industry cluster in Nanning.
