Guangxi boosts digital economy with annual competition

The launching ceremony of the third Kunpeng Application Innovation Competition was held on June 21 at the Big Data Development Bureau of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

The competition was held by Huawei Technologies and Digital Guangxi Group under the guidance of the Big Data Development Bureau of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and the Education Department of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

The event is open to enterprises and developers and aims to boost the industrial innovation and cultivate more talent in Kunpeng application. It is divided into the regional section and the national section. Monetary awards for the regional section total 500,000 yuan ($74,357) and first-place prize winners will qualify for the national competition.

He Yuping, deputy director of the Big Data Development Bureau of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, said that establishing a Kunpeng computing industrial system in the construction of a digital Guangxi has the potential to help Guangxi maintain its advantageous position in the opening up of the digital economy and economic cooperation with ASEAN. 

He added that the bureau will further optimize policies and improve the business environment, helping upstream and downstream enterprises in the industrial chain to carry out the application of Kunpeng.  

According to calculation by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, the digital economic scale of Guangxi exceeded 830 billion yuan in 2021, with a growth rate of 15 percent. The region's digital economy accounted for 33.5 percent of the GDP, contributing to over 60 percent of the overall economic growth. 

The previous two competitions have cultivated nearly 1,000 Kunpeng developers, offering 163 Kunpeng innovation solutions for various industries.
